PMGO 2026 Season 2: New Format, Group Stage Schedule and How the Grand Finals Are Decided

PUBG Mobile Global Open Season 2 runs October 20-25, 2026 in Lahore, Pakistan, the country's first officially sanctioned global PUBG MOBILE esports event. Thirty-two teams qualified through nine regional finals across Asia, Europe, Africa, the Middle East, and the Americas, competing for a $500,000 prize pool and 150 PMGC points for the champion.

1. Three stages, and why the group stage matters more than usual

The format is the biggest change from previous editions:

• Group Stage: 32 teams split into two groups of 16. Group A plays six matches on October 20; Group B plays six matches on October 21.

• Survival Stage: teams finishing 7th through 14th in each group drop here to fight for the remaining slots.

• Grand Finals: populated by the top six from each group plus the teams that survive the Survival Stage.

What this means in practice: finishing top six in your group doesn't just look good on paper, it skips an entire stage. Teams that land 7th or 8th are technically still alive but have to play roughly twice as many matches to reach the same place.

2. The map pool

Matches rotate across Rondo, Erangel, and Miramar. Rondo's inclusion in the official pool is the detail worth watching. Its terrain and vehicle routes reward a completely different rotation logic than Erangel, and teams that built their entire strategy around Erangel's compound meta will be exposed here.

3. New tiebreakers

Two additions change how close finishes get resolved:

• Team Deathmatch tiebreaker: when two teams are level on points at a qualification cutoff, a short TDM decides it rather than elimination count.

• Decider map: used when standings remain tied after all scheduled matches.

For viewers, this means the last five minutes of a group stage day can flip an entire bracket.

4. How to read the standings yourself

Track three numbers while watching, not one:

1. Total points (placement points plus elimination points combined).

2. Matches remaining: a single top-three finish can move a team six places.

3. Gap to the team in sixth place, not to first.

A useful rule of thumb: a team more than 25 points behind the sixth-place cutoff with one match left is realistically heading to the Survival Stage. Below 15 points with two matches left, they are still very much in it.

5. Broadcast timing

Lahore sits at UTC+5. Sessions announced at 13:00 local time start at 08:00 UTC; evening sessions at 18:00 local start at 13:00 UTC. Official streams run on the PUBG MOBILE Esports channels with English commentary throughout the group stage and finals.
